Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Doorstep — what it is, how it works, and whether it fits your business.

What is Doorstep

What is Doorstep?

Doorstep is an AI-powered marketing and referral automation platform built specifically for real estate agents and mortgage lenders. It generates content in your voice, automates your post-close referral sequence, and integrates with your existing CRM — so you stay consistently visible without spending hours on marketing every week.

Who is Doorstep built for?

Doorstep is built for two audiences: real estate agents (Realtors, buyer's agents, listing agents, team leads) and mortgage lenders (loan officers, mortgage brokers). Both roles benefit from AI content generation, post-close referral automation, and CRM integration.

How is Doorstep different from a generic AI writing tool?

Generic AI tools like ChatGPT write for any industry and produce content that sounds generic. Doorstep is built specifically for real estate — it knows the terminology, the deal flow, the content types agents and lenders need, and it profiles your individual voice and style so output sounds like you, not a template.

CRM & Integrations

Does Doorstep replace my CRM?

No. Doorstep does not replace your CRM — it is designed to work alongside it. Doorstep is built to complement Follow Up Boss, Sierra Interactive, HubSpot, and the other CRMs real estate professionals already use. No migration, no switching platforms.

Which CRMs does Doorstep work with?

Doorstep is built to work alongside Follow Up Boss, Sierra Interactive, HubSpot, and more — with direct integrations rolling out over the coming weeks. You can connect any CRM today via the Zapier webhook integration. Wise Agent, Lofty, Pipedrive, and Zoho CRM are in development. If your CRM isn't listed, contact us.

What platforms does Doorstep publish content to?

Doorstep publishes to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google Business Profile. X (formerly Twitter) support is coming soon. Direct mail is handled separately via automated postcard fulfillment.

Voice Profiling & AI Content

How does voice profiling work?

When you set up Doorstep, you complete a brief onboarding flow that captures how you communicate — your word choices, your personality, how formal or casual you are, what topics you care about, and which markets you serve. Doorstep's AI uses this profile as a foundation for every piece of content it generates. The result sounds like you — not an agency, not a robot.

Will my clients know the content is AI-generated?

That depends on how well your voice profile is built. Agents who invest time in the voice profiling setup report that their clients have no idea — the content matches their tone so closely that it reads as completely natural. Doorstep isn't trying to fool anyone; it's trying to save you time while keeping your communications authentic.

What kinds of content does Doorstep generate?

Doorstep generates social media posts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google Business), email campaigns, market reports, listing announcement content (just listed, open house, just sold), first-time buyer education content, rate update campaigns for lenders, and post-close referral sequence messages.

Can I edit the content before it publishes?

Yes. All generated content goes through a review and approval workflow. You see everything before it publishes and can edit, regenerate, or skip any piece.

The 60-Day Post-Close Sequence

What is the 60-day post-close referral sequence?

The 60-day sequence is a structured set of touchpoints that launches when you mark a deal as closed. Emails and social posts send automatically. Text messages are drafted by AI in your voice and ready to send with one tap from your own phone — so your client always gets the text from the number they already know. The sequence requires almost no manual work; the only action needed is tapping to send the two prepared text messages.

Do I have to do anything to trigger the sequence?

No. Once the sequence is configured (a one-time setup), it triggers when a deal is marked closed in Doorstep or synced from your CRM. You can also trigger it manually from any client record. On the days your text touchpoints are due, you'll see a "Texts to send today" card on your dashboard with the message pre-written and a one-tap link to open your phone's messaging app.

Can I customize the sequence messages?

Yes. You can customize any touchpoint — the timing, the channel (email, SMS, direct mail), and the message itself. Doorstep generates a default version using your voice profile, but you have full control to edit before sending. For text messages specifically, you'll see the full drafted message and can copy-edit it before tapping to send.

What happens after Day 60?

After the 60-day sequence ends, the client transitions into your ongoing content calendar — they continue to receive your social content, market reports, and seasonal check-ins indefinitely. Doorstep ensures you never go completely dark on a past client.

Is there a free trial?

We don't offer a traditional free trial, but the 30-day money-back guarantee functions as a risk-free trial period. You can cancel in the first 30 days for a full refund.

Compliance (Lenders)

Is Doorstep content compliant with RESPA and Reg Z?

Doorstep is built with RESPA and Reg Z awareness — it avoids fee advertising language that triggers APR disclosure requirements, and prompts for NMLS disclosures on advertising content. That said, Doorstep is a marketing tool, not a compliance service. All generated content should be reviewed by your compliance officer before publishing.

Does Doorstep include NMLS disclosure reminders?

Yes. When generating content that appears to be advertising (versus education), Doorstep prompts for NMLS number inclusion and flags when a disclosure may be required.

Can I use Doorstep for co-branded Realtor content?

Yes. Doorstep supports co-branded content generation for Realtor referral partners. Content is framed educationally to avoid RESPA concerns around fee arrangements. Your compliance officer should review any co-branded material before distribution.
